NOHOTEL's Green Home Initiative
We choose to use sustainable and environmentally friendly products that are completely hypoallergenic and eco-friendly. After all, we care about this big beautiful planet and we want to preserve it for future generations. By reducing the amount of plastics and chemicals we put into landfills and the air, we can be better stewards for our planet.
Plus, we want you to enjoy your stay without having to be exposed to harsh fragrances or chemicals!
Our Green Home Initiative includes all of our properties. We are truly dedicated to:
- Eliminating all plastic bottles and bags, including toiletries, garbage bags and cleaning bottles. (Instead, we use dissolving cleaning tablets in reusable spray bottles.)
- Using all natural hand soap, shampoo, body wash and conditioner with earth friendly dispensers in the bathrooms and kitchens.
- Equipping our refrigerators with double-filtered water dispensers or Brita-type filtered canisters.
- Using biodegradable kitchen and bathroom trash can liners.
- Setting up recycling bins in all our apartments, making it easier for you to recycle.
Plus, we know that being eco-friendly is about more than just the features of the home, it’s about what you do during your stay.
That’s why we always choose apartments in locations with a Walkscore of 90+. That means you’ll have everything you need within walking distance and won’t have to drive. (Plus, these beautiful and vibrant neighborhoods are so much fun to explore on foot!)
Did you know that fragrance intolerance (where people have an allergic reaction to ingredients in perfumes and scented products), affects about 30% of the population? Symptoms can include asthma attacks, headaches, contact dermatitis and much more.
We make sure to only use fragrance-free cleaning materials at our properties. Our bedding and towels are professionally laundered and cleaned with chemical and fragrance-free products.
LEED and GBI Certified
We search high and low for eco-friendly buildings we can include in our inventory. We’re currently increasing our collection of apartments in LEED and IGP certified green buildings.
What does this mean?
This designation stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. It’s a green building certification that is used worldwide to rate buildings, homes and neighborhoods. The ratings take into account a number of factors, including water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources and indoor environmental quality.
GBI is the Green Building Initiative. Governed by a board of directors, it is dedicated to accelerating the adoption of building practives that will create healthier, energy efficient and sustainable buildings. The sustainability ratings do through a collaborative public process that is guided by the American National Standards Institute.
When you stay at a property, you’ll know that you are staying in an apartment where every small detail has been considered with the health of our planet in mind.
